SWW Fair to Feature Rodeo and Wild Horse Race

Posted

Visitors to the Southwest Washington Fair can look forward to a rodeo and wild horse race on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Starting at 6 p.m., the event will feature bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, team roping, barrel racing for ladies and mutton busting for the kids. The highlight will be the new wild horse racing event. Three-person teams will have to control and saddle wild horses, then ride them to the finish line.

“It’s really a big, wild event all by itself,” stock provider Pat McLaughlin said in a release. “The wild horse race will be worth the price of admission all by itself.”

The fair’s news release also noted that a quality sound system has been rented to improve on past sound issues.

The fair has lined up chute sponsorships from Tyler Rentals, L&E Bottling, Tires, Inc. and Centerville Country Western Store.

Two more chute sponsors are needed, with other sponsorship opportunities still available, including a major title sponsor. Sponsorships include advertising and ticket packages.

The Twin Cities Sertoma Club is also providing a beer garden for the rodeo.
