The Port of Centralia announced Friday that STIHL Northwest, currently located on Hamilton Road in Chehalis, will relocate its operations to the port’s Park II development.

Stihl’s agreement with the port will allow for the construction of a new, 100,000 square-foot facility, which will be able to expand in the future to up to 240,000 square feet.

All 30 of STIHL Northwest’s employees will transition to the new site, according to the port, and the company plans to add more employees.

“We are very pleased to welcome STIHL Northwest to the Port of Centralia,” Port commission President Julie Shaffley wrote in a statement. “STIHL has been an active employer and supporter of charities in our community for over 40 years and we are thankful to retain such a quality global presence in Lewis County. The port looks forward to a bright future working with them.”

STIHL Northwest is a division of STIHL Incorporated and is a wholesale distributor of forestry, lawn and garden power equipment. The Centralia facility is one of 11 U.S. distributors.

The Port of Centralia has two industrial parks with 30 tenants and a planned mixed-use development.
