State Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis, has received an award from the Capitol Land Trust for his collaborative legislation to help restore the land and waters near the Pacific Coast.

DeBolt received the honor along with fellow Rep. Steven Tharinger, D-Sequim, for efforts to pass an $11.2 million Washington Coast Restoration Initiative during the last legislative biennium, a press release said.

The award was presented at the Trust’s 30th Anniversary Conservation Breakfast on Tuesday, an event that brought together more than 600 community leaders, business owners and elected officials.

The Washington Coast Restoration Initiative helps restore forests, water quality and wildlife habitat while ensuring sustainable natural resource jobs in the future, the release said.

State money used in the initiative also utilizes existing federal and private resources.

Many of the projects presented in a list covering the Washington coast help create fishing, forestry, construction and engineering jobs.
