Sirens: Wall Heater Catches on Fire; Series of Vehicle Prowls on Borst Avenue; Threats Land Man in Jail

Wall Heater Catches on Fire

• Firefighters from the Riverside Fire Authority, the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority and Lewis County Fire District 6 responded to a wall heater that caught fire at a home in the 2500 block of Lincoln Creek Road west of Centralia at about 3:10 Wednesday morning. The homeowner had put out the fire upon emergency responders’ arrival, and firefighters checked the area and found the fire to have not spread from the room in which it began. Riverside Fire Authority estimated damage to the room and contents at $25,000.

Vehicle Fire

• A pickup caught fire in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Harrison Avenue and High Street. When firefighters arrived, the pickup was fully involved; crews extinguished the blaze in short order. The truck and its contents, valued at $1,500, are a total loss. No one was hurt in the fire.

 

Centralia Police Department

Serial Vehicle Prowler?

• Officers received a report of theft of a stereo and GPS unit from an unlocked vehicle in the 3000 block of Borst Avenue at 8:23 a.m. Tuesday.

• Two hours later, at 10:51 a.m., police received a report from the same area, the 3000 block of Borst Avenue, of a vehicle prowl in which a stereo, amplifier and bass were stolen. The suspect left a fishing pole behind.

• Police received a third report from the 3000 block of Borst Avenue at 3:42 p.m., in which the reporting person said a stereo had been stolen from a vehicle. No arrests were made in any of the three vehicle prowls.

Crashes

• A pedestrian received minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle in the 1600 block of Military Road at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday. Police did not arrest anyone as a result of the crash.

• A vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Tower Avenue and Magnolia Street in downtown Centralia at 8:18 p.m. Tuesday. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries.

• Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Johnson Road at 6:42 p.m. Tuesday. No one was hurt.

Threats Land Man in Jail

• Lonnie A. Grasser, 42, Centralia, was arrested in the 1400 block of Johnson Road and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 1:46 this morning. Police say he assaulted his girlfriend then threatened to kill her.

Miscellaneous Arrests

• Terry L. Bryan, 34, Centralia, was arrested in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 9:52 Tuesday morning. 

He was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding warrant.

• Sarah M. Culp, 32, transient in Centralia, was arrested in the 100 block of West Maple Street at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday. She was booked on an outstanding warrant.
