Stump Fire in Park

• The Riverside Fire Authority responded to a fire in a large hollow stump Monday night at Riverside Park in Centralia. Firefighters were at the scene for about 30 minutes and put the fire out by 10:35 p.m. The cause of the fire is unknown, but officials suspect it was human-caused. The case is under investigation, according to Centralia police.

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

No Contact Violation

• A 39-year-old man is possibly fleeing to Oregon following a no contact order violation on Friday between 3 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. Victor Perez-Ruiz, Centralia, went into a residence on the 3000 block of Ives Road in Centralia and contacted a 35-year-old woman. Perez-Ruiz was ordered to have no contact with the woman in June. He forcefully took car keys from the woman and drove away in a black 2010 Kia Forte. He was charged with violating the no contact order and burglary.

Trailer Break In

• On Saturday, deputies arrived on the 100 block of Sherwood Lane in Packwood to investigate property damage that happened between Sept. 1 and Oct. 24. Deputies found a 53-year-old Richland woman’s travel trailer had been broken into and a game camera attached to a tree had been removed and smashed. Damage is estimated at $400.

DUI Accident

• A 24-year-old man was booked into the Lewis County Jail at 2:46 a.m. on Saturday for driving under the influence and having a suspended license. The charges followed a single vehicle collision on the 200 block of Highway 603 on Friday. Deputies arrested Taylor D. Sprigger, whose Arizona driver’s license was suspended. 

Busted Eye Socket in Car Crash

• Three people were transported to hospitals following a two-vehicle collision at noon on Saturday. A 66-year-old Chehalis man driving a 1993 Volvo cut the intersection at Harmon Road and Carroll Road near Napavine and drove head-on into a 1991 Ford Explorer. The driver of the Volvo had scrapes and bruises but refused medical treatment. The Volvo passenger, a 51-year-old Chehalis woman, said she had hip and shoulder pain. She was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. The 21-year-old Chehalis man who was driving the Ford received face lacerations and was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle as well. A 23-year-old Chehalis man who was a passenger in the Ford has severe face lacerations and a busted eye socket. Responders transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle via ground transportation. The Sheriff’s Office cited the driver of the Ford for driving without vehicle insurance. Both vehicles were totaled.

Driver Unsure How He Hit Pole

• A 38-year-old man broke a utility pole in a single vehicle crash at the 100 block of Knowles Road in Winlock at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. The driver of the 1997 Chevy Express van was traveling south when he crossed into the northbound lane, left the roadway and hit the pole. He told deputies he didn’t know how the accident happened. He was charged with driving with a suspended license and wheels off the roadway.

Chainsaws, Generator Stolen

• Deputies are investigating a report of two stolen chainsaws and an AMICO generator from the 100 block of Holiday Lane in Packwood. A 69-year-old man advised deputies the items were stolen between 4 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The items are valued at $1,250.

Deer Missing From Crash Scene

• Deputies cited a 39-year-old woman for hit-and-run property damage and driving too fast for conditions on the 900 block of Coal Creek Road in Chehalis at 9:04 p.m. on Saturday. The woman’s 2004 Dodge Durango sustained major damage after she told officers a deer ran in front of her vehicle causing her to strike the guardrail and ditch. There is no evidence she hit a deer from the scene she left without reporting the incident. Both the driver and a 24-year-old man who was riding with her were uninjured.

Loud Night Crawler

• Deputies and Centralia police arrested a 40-year-old Centralia man who was yelling obscenities and walking on the back and front porches of a home on the 2900 block of Yahtahay Lane in Centralia. The 51-year-old woman reported the incident at 3:39 a.m. on Sunday. Zachary K. Greene was located in the backyard of an abandoned residence in the neighborhood and charged with second-degree criminal trespassing.

Watch Out for Trees

• A 34-year-old man totaled the work vehicle he was driving at 5:29 p.m. on Oct. 23 on the 100 block of Shanklin Road in Onalaska when he struck a downed tree that was blocking the roadway. The downed tree caused the driver of the 2008 Ford F350 pickup to leave the roadway, travel down an embankment and roll the pickup onto its side against other trees. The driver extracted himself from the vehicle, and didn’t have any injuries.

Bad Steering

• A 38-year-old Onalaska man lost control of a company pickup when it felt like his steering broke. He lost control of the 2007 Dodge Ram on the 300 block of Middle Fork Road in Chehalis at 7:11 p.m. on Monday. The pickup went into the ditch on the south side of the road and overturned. The man didn’t have any injuries, but the pickup was totaled. He was not cited for defective equipment because it was a company vehicle.

 

Centralia Police Department

Man Gets in the Way

• Police arrested Michael A. Kelloge, 43, of Centralia for disrupting traffic by being in the middle of the roadway at Mellen Street and Yew Street in Centralia at 9 a.m. on Friday. He was charged with disorderly conduct. 

Harrison Avenue Tools Stolen

• Police received a report of tools stolen from a business on the 600 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at 2:52 p.m. on Friday. Investigation is ongoing.

Car Theft

• A Chevrolet Blazer was reported stolen from the 800 block of Marion Street in Centralia at 2:46 a.m. on Saturday.

Toyota Pickup Stolen

• At 11:54 a.m. on Saturday, police received a report of a stolen maroon 1991 Toyota pickup truck with license plate number B22903V. It was stolen from the 100 block of West Maple Street in Centralia. 

Passport Taken from Home

• A passport was stolen from a home on the 200 block of North Buckner Street in Centralia. The burglary was reported at 5:32 p.m. on Saturday.

Thief Going to Shoot Some Pool

• A backpack and a pool cue were reported stolen from a vehicle at the 100 block of West High Street in Centralia at

6:07 p.m. on Saturday. 

Possible Child Molestation Case

• Centralia detectives are investigating a child who was reported injured, possibly by molestation. No arrests have been made in the report from the 1800 block of Cooks Hill Road in Centralia that was made at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday. 

Longhorn Hood Ornament Long Gone

• At 9:17 a.m. on Sunday, police received a report that longhorns that ornamented a pickup hood and a subwoofer, a speaker component, were stolen from the 900 block of K Street in Centralia.

Woman Arrested for Domestic Violence

• Police arrested Kate A. Beckett, 23, of Chehalis, for assault domestic violence and malicious mischief domestic violence on the 400 block of East Plum Street in Centralia at 4:37 p.m. on Sunday.

Gun Involved Domestic Violence

• Officers arrested Jessi M. Lestat, 43, of Centralia, after she allegedly pointed a pistol at her boyfriend’s head during a dispute at 10:29 a.m. on Monday on the 500 block of Ash Street in Centralia. She faces a first-degree assault domestic violence charge. 

Wheels Stolen

• Police received a report of a stolen bike at 1:33 p.m. on Monday from the 400 block of South Rock Street in Centralia.

Forgery for Meds

• A forgery to get medications was reported on the 900 block of South Scheuber Road in Centralia at 4:29 p.m. on Monday. 

Stopped in the Tracks

• Police arrested a man who caused a freight train to make an emergency stop at 10:46 on Monday. Longview transient Anthony D. Webb, 49, allegedly refused to move off the railroad tracks after the train just left the yard on the 200 block of Railroad Avenue in Centralia. After the train stopped, he tried to get onto the train and was making his way to the engine cabin when police were called. Webb was arrested for trespassing and obstructing or delaying a train. He said he wasn’t on the train, but the crew identified him. Webb was intoxicated when he was arrested.

Window Shot

• Police received a report of a possible bullet hole in a window of an apartment on the 500 block of Southwest Parkland Drive in Chehalis at 10:09 a.m. on Saturday.
