Man Hides From Police Under House

• A 37-year-old Centralia man was arrested and booked for felony eluding after an officer attempted to stop Daniel H. Morton in downtown Centralia for a traffic violation. Morton drove on Seminary Hill Road faster than 60 mph and officers terminated the chase due to bad weather. Officers located Morton’s truck abandoned in his yard. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office K-9, Axel, responded and found Morton hiding in a small crawl space of a home on the 2200 block of Seminary Hill Road at 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Morton also faces other charges including driving under the influence, resisting arrest and not having an ignition interlock device installed in his truck.

Losing Control

• Police arrested and booked James M. Mihalcin, 43, of Centralia for physical control of a vehicle on the 100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at 11:48 a.m. on Tuesday.

Man Fights Security

• Police arrested and booked David D. Marrs, 24, of Centralia, for robbery after he fought with security who were trying to detain him for shoplifting on the 500 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia.

Drinking and Driving

• Jamie Leuvano, 46, of Bucoda, was arrested and booked for driving under the influence on the 1200 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia at 7:39 p.m. on Tuesday.

Vehicle Theft

• A 1992 red Chevrolet Lumina was reported stolen while parked behind a tavern on the 100 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia at 6:25 p.m. 

Child Locked in Car

• An 18-month-old baby was rescued from a locked Chevrolet SUV on the 1000 block of South Gold Street in Centralia. Police responded to the call at 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Grant’s Towing and Automotive unlocked the vehicle. The child was in a car seat and appeared fine. No citations were issued and the call was cleared at 7:02 p.m.

Scared by Alarm?

• Deputies responded to an alarm activation on the 500 block of Jackson Highway South in Toledo at 1:02 p.m. on Tuesday. They found the front door wide open with pry marks on the door and a hole in the front door’s window. The building was searched, but no one found. Nothing was stolen. It is estimated replacing the door will cost $50. 

Cutting Down on TV Time

• A 46-year-old Centralia woman reported a residential burglary on the 2100 block of Salzer Valley Road in Centralia. She said unknown suspects entered her home between 12:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. Tuesday and stole a 32-inch Emerson LCD TV valued at $200.

DUI Arrest

• Deputies arrested David M. Martin, 61, of Onalaska, for driving under the influence at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday at milepost 6 of Middle Fork Road in Onalaska. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Minor Accident

• A 19-year-old Winlock man was cited for failure to yield after he turned on to the 200 block of Maurin Road from the Fred Meyer Distribution Center parking lot in Chehalis and struck a 1992 Dodge pickup. The Winlock man, the 58-year-old Chehalis man who was driving eastbound in the Dodge, and his passenger were uninjured. The accident occurred at 10:13 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicles sustained minor damage.
