Sirens: Disorderly Transient, Possible Kidnapping Attempt, Stolen Cash

Centralia Police Department

No Injuries in Crash

• Officers responded to a two-car accident at Washington Avenue and Centralia College Boulevard in Centralia at 9:24 a.m. on Wednesday. No one was injured. 

Vehicle Recovered

• A vehicle was reported stolen at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday within the last two days from the 300 block of Centralia College Boulevard in Centralia. It was recovered in Chehalis.

Domestic Violence

• Malcom J. Garman, 21, of Centralia was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, at 4:48 p.m. on Wednesday on the 1700 block of Military Road in Centralia. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Disorderly Transient

• Officers cited and released 51-year-old Keith A. Smith, a transient in Centralia, for disorderly conduct. Smith was yelling and screaming on people while running at them at the 400 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia at 6:09 p.m. on Wednesday. He was later arrested and booked in the Lewis County Jail at 7:24 p.m., after going into a business that he had been trespassed from on the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road in Centralia.

Kidnapping Attempt?

• William. M. Eaton, 36, of Chehalis, who came into the emergency room at Providence Centralia Hospital allegedly high on drugs, attempted to take a small child from its parents at the hospital at 7:56 p.m. on Wednesday. Hospital security and a Centralia police officer who was at the facility on a different matter took Eaton into custody. Questioning revealed Eaton thought the child was his. Eaton is being treated at the hospital for unknown medical issues. No one was injured during the event. The case is under investigation and Eaton is being referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor for attempted kidnapping.

Parole Violation

• Aaron M. Perez, 22, of Centralia, was arrested on the 100 block of West Maple Street in Centralia at 9:32 a.m. Tuesday for violating the terms of his parole. 

No Pay, Can’t Stay

• Centralia police cited and removed Alexa S. Hoover, 66, of Centralia, after she allegedly refused to pay for a room she rented or leave at the 1300 block on Belmont Avenue in Centralia at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday.

Stolen Accord

• A vehicle theft occurred between 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday behind the football stadium on the 2500 block of Mount Vista Road in Centralia. The stolen vehicle is described as a black 1996 Honda Accord four door that had paint peeling off the trunk and the roof. The vehicle license number was 505XRH. No arrests have been made.

Hit and Run

• A hit and run occurred at the Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers parking lot at the 200 block of Ritchie Lane in Chehalis between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim was a man from Mossyrock. While his 2004 Dodge Durango was parked at the auction, another vehicle backed into it. There was a teal colored paint transfer on rear bumper, which was damaged. Repairs are expected to cost $400. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-748-6422.

Cash Stolen

• A cash bag with $200 was stolen from the Packwood Presbyterian Thrift & Gift on U.S. Highway 12 in Randle between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Oct. 17. It was taken while the clerk was helping a customer.

Different Stories After Crash

• Two drivers were transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for non-life threatening injuries following a collision on the 1700 block Centralia-Alpha Road in Chehalis at 11:49 a.m. on Wednesday. A 19-year-old woman from Chehalis was traveling west in a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup, which had major damage. She had cuts on her face and arms. A 59-year-old Chehalis woman was driving a  2001 Ford Explorer in the opposite direction. The vehicle sustained major damage. The woman had back and shoulder pain. The vehicles’ mirrors collided as the drivers were passing. Both women swerved away from one another, resulting in both drivers losing control and crashing into the ditch. Each driver advised the responding deputy that the other driver crossed the center line. The sheriff’s office was unable to determine who actually crossed the center line. 

Chainsaw Stolen

• A chainsaw was reported stolen from a garage on the 900 block of Byham Road in Winlock between noon and 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Stihl brand saw was engraved with the name “Jack Miller” on it. 

Wire Theft

• Dulin Construction reported between Oct. 17 and Oct. 20 someone stole approximately 400 feet of wire valued at about $6,000 from a rock pit on the 3000 block of Foron Road in Centralia. The investigation of the first degree theft is ongoing.
