Home For Sale Broken Into

• A second-degree burglary was reported at a home for sale on the 100 block of Riffe Hill Road in Morton. Damage to the door frame is estimated to be $200. Nothing appears to have been stolen. The break-in occurred between January and Oct. 31 of this year.

Foggy Crash

• A 19-year-old Salkum man struck a guardrail at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Fuller Road and Spencer Road near Salkum. He was transferred to Providence Centralia Hospital for a minor head injury. The man was traveling south on Fuller Road in thick fog when he ran into the guardrail at the end of the road and hit his head on the steering wheel and windshield. The 2004 Ford Escape he was driving sustained major front-end damage from the impact. The driver was cited for speeding too fast for conditions. 

Woman Airlifted

• A 20-year-old Chehalis woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after she broke a femur and received facial lacerations in an accident in the 2200 block of Centralia Alpha Road in Chehalis at 1:10 p.m. on Friday, the woman was driving north in a 2005 Toyota Scion when she left the roadway, overcorrected and slid head-on into a large tree. The car was a total loss. She was cited for no seat belt, speeding too fast and no insurance.

Left Turn Fail

• An 86-year-old Chehalis man failed to yield while making a left turn and drove into another vehicle at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday on Bishop Road in Chehalis. The man was driving a 2002 Toyota Camry, which sustained major damage to the front end. He hit a 1994 GMC pickup driven by 75-year-old man, the vehicle sustained major damage to the left side. The 86-year-old man was cited for failure to yield. No one was injured in the accident.

Distracted by Phone

• A 17-year-old Chehalis girl stuck a power pole in the 100 block of Deep Creek Road on Chehalis at 8:21 p.m. on Sunday. The teen was distracted by her cellphone lighting up in the center console of the car and left the roadway to the right. She hit a power pole and a weatherhead at a residence. The pole fell, resulting in wires on the roadway. The girl was not injured, but the 1995 Hyundai Accent received major damage to the passenger side front corner. She was cited for second-degree negligent driving.

Fraud Victim

• A 20-year-old Chehalis man reportedly discovered fraudulent charges totaling $483 in his accounts. The victim is unsure how the second-degree theft happened. The crime occurred between Friday and Saturday near the 100 block of Curtis Hill Road in Chehalis. Investigation is underway. 

Theft in Rock Quarry 

• Deputies responded to a report of malicious mischief and theft of various types of copper wire on the 500 block of  Mandy Road in Toledo at 9:13  a.m. on Nov. 3. The theft from the quarry occurred between  Oct. 31 and Nov. 3. The total value of the stolen wire was unknown at press time. Investigation is underway.

 

Centralia Police Department

Four Vehicle Prowl

• Police responded to a report at 8:27 a.m. on Friday of four vehicles being broken into and items stolen. The vehicle prowl occurred sometime overnight on the 2600 block of Cooks Hill Road in Centralia.  

School Bus Punch

• Police are investigating a report of a 7-year-old boy who was allegedly punched by an older kid on a school bus at 1:03 p.m. on Friday on the 800 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia.

Meth Found

• Officers arrested Terry R. Strong, 46, of Centralia for an outstanding warrant at 6:04 p.m. on Friday on the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia. He was also referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor for methamphetamine possession.

Disorderly Downtown

• Derrick L. Whitcomb, 29, of Centralia was cited and released for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at 11:38 p.m. Friday on the 1000 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia.

Teens Caught with Booze 

• Officers referred several juveniles to the prosecutor’s office for minor in possession of alcohol at 1:14 a.m. Saturday on the 1400 block of Oxford Avenue in Centralia. A 16-year-old was transferred to the hospital for alcohol poisoning. 

Domestic Violence

• Police arrested and booked Ann M. Arnold, 34, of Chehalis, for fourth-degree domestic violence on the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia at 10:59 a.m. on Monday.

• Elmer C. Disney, 60, of Tekoa, was arrested and booked for fourth-degree assault domestic violence in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue in Centralia at 4:22 a.m. on Tuesday. 

Drug Bust 

• Following a lengthy investigation by the Anti-Crime Team, officers arrested Mathew J. Goff, 29, of Centralia, for dealing drugs. Police seized 50 grams of heroin, half an ounce of methamphetamines, scales and more than $2,400 in cash after a search warrant was served on Goff’s house on the 600 block of West Main Street in Centralia at 3:56 p.m. on Monday.

Domestic Violence in Morton

• Steven W. Tower, a 46-year-old transient, was arrested after he allegedly pushed a woman’s head into a light pole. Tower was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence. A passerby witnessed the alleged incident which occurred at 5:57 p.m. on Oct. 27 on the 500 block of Adams Avenue in Morton. 

Tire Fight

• A witness reported to police that a woman stabbed the tire of a parked vehicle on the 200 block of Main Avenue in Morton at 12:56 p.m. Friday. The suspect, a blonde woman unknown to the victim, was not found. The damage is estimated at $375.

 

Mossyrock Police

Trash Tossed in Yard

• Police advised a man who allegedly threw garbage into a yard on the 100 block of Meadow Lane in Mossyrock to stay away from the area and to not throw trash in people’s yards or he could be arrested. The incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 27.

Possible Prowl

• Officers responded to the 100 block of Meadow Lane in Mossyrock after homeowners reported hearing what sounded like footsteps running from the residence at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Nothing was found during a check of the area.

 

Chehalis Police Department

Walmart Theft Arrest

• A Wenatchee man was arrested after he tried to shoplift from Walmart in Chehalis. Police responded to the store at 4:42 p.m. on Saturday and Sammy J. Bowling, 34, was arrested for third-degree theft. He tried to steal baby oil, shoes, a hat, gloves, a jacket, a shirt and a belt totaling $116.48. A knife was found on his belt behind his back.  

When You Gotta Go

• Mark J. Chapman, 50, of Chehalis was arrested and cited for urinating in public after he urinated on the sidewalk on the side of a building on the 1200 block of Southwest Williams Avenue in Chehalis at 4:41 p.m. on Sunday. Chapman was reported to be extremely intoxicated and was taken to the hospital because he couldn’t take care of himself, according to police.
