Rollover Crash Slows Traffic on Northbound I-5 Near Grand Mound

A semi-truck hauling two trailers crashed on northbound I-5 Wednesday morning, delaying traffic in the area for more than four hours, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 5 a.m., the truck was headed north, just north of Grand Mound and south of the Scatter Creek rest area, when traffic slowed, Trooper Johnna Batiste said.

The driver couldn’t slow the truck in time, so the driver drove onto the shoulder, then turned back onto the freeway, which caused the rear trailer to flip over, she said. The truck ultimately crashed into the center barrier.

The driver, who was not hauling hazardous cargo, was cited for driving too fast for the conditions, Batiste said.

Northbound I-5 reopened to traffic about 9:30 a.m., she said.
