Rep. Ed Orcutt Plans to Seek Re-Election

Rep. Ed Orcutt, R-Kalama, announced earlier this week that he is running for re-election.

Orcutt has served in what is now a 20th District legislative seat since 2002. This year, he said he worked to ensure Lewis County and the rest of his district received its share of transportation funds for projects aimed at improving economic development by protecting funding in the supplemental transportation budget.

“I am pleased we passed a supplemental operating budget that was balanced — without raising taxes. We need to fully fund education and do it without raising taxes as well,” Orcutt said.

Orcutt’s legislative priorities include protecting taxpayers from increases, protecting property rights and job creation. The National Rifle Association rates Orcutt at 100 percent for protecting Second Amendment rights.

He is working with the other District 20 legislators, Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis, and Sen. John Braun, R-Centralia, on other economic development and flood issues and is working to improve access to North Lewis County industrial areas.

DeBolt and Braun are both also running for re-election.

Orcutt is a ranking member of the Transportation Committee, and is an assistant ranking member on the Finance and Agriculture and Natural Resources committees. He also serves on the Joint Transportation and the Joint Legislative Audit Review committees and the Western Legislative Forestry Task Force.

He owns Cascade Forest Management, a forestry consulting company, and works to protect natural resources jobs.
