The Thurston County Auditor’s Office will join a nationwide effort to register voters before the Nov. 7 general election as part of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The Auditor’s Office encourages eligible voters to register online at www.myvote.wa.gov or at one of several registration drives held throughout the week.

“Registering to vote is the first and most critical step to fulfilling your civic responsibility as an eligible voter,” Thurston County Auditor Mary Hall said in a press release. “Without registering to vote you can’t vote. If you don’t vote, you’re not participating in key decisions about who represents your interests at different levels of government and how our communities respond to important issues.”

A voter registration drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at the Olympia Farmers Market. There will be four additional drives from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Tenino Market Fresh, 669 Lincoln Ave. E; Walmart in Yelm, 17100 State Route 507 SE; Grocery Outlet in Lacey, 8221 Martin Way E.; and at Haggens Northwest Fresh in Olympia, 1313 Cooper Point Road SW.

The Auditor’s Office is also encouraging voters to show “their civic pride” by posting selfies with #ThurstonVotes and #CelebrateNVRD on their social media accounts.
