Rain Predicted Through Friday

After a prolonged spurt of hot and dry weather, Lewis County residents saw some reprieve over the weekend with scattered rain showers and cooler weather.

The trend is expected to continue through Friday, although the area is not forecasted to see much precipitation. The amount of rain is estimated to total approximately half an inch before sunnier weather on Saturday.

The rain will be “pretty evenly spread out” throughout the next couple days, said National Weather Service meteorologist Josh Smith.

The amount of moisture the area has been experiencing is not unheard of for late August or Early September, Smith said.

Other parts of the Pacific Northwest have experienced greater precipitation than that in Lewis County, as Seattle saw lots of rain and wind on Saturday. The increased moisture is expected to help firefighters’ efforts to control multiple fires throughout the region.

“Although there is only that much precipitation for you guys, there is more over the North Cascades and over the Olympics, so that will definitely help with the fire suppression efforts,” Smith said.
