Public Hearing Scheduled for Code Changes for Vader Water System Operations

Lewis County plans to update ordinances for the Vader-Enchanted Valley Water System, which it has been operating for five years.

The codes need to be updated to comply with state and federal regulations, according to county documents.

Tim Elsea, director of public works, said changes include a cross-connection control program to prevent people from hooking up to the system without approval and to protect from contaminated water flowing into the system.

The updated code will also include a water conservation program as required by the state Department of Health.

A public hearing on the proposed updates will be held on Feb. 22 at the Board of Commissioner’s 10 a.m. meeting.
