Public Hearing Regarding Brotherson Road Set for Thursday

The Centralia Planning Commission will host a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the City Council chamber regarding a petition for the city to vacate Brotherson Road, a dead-end street off of W.H. Long Road east of Exit 81 off Interstate 5.

The Port of Centralia submitted the petition earlier this year as part of its planning process for a multi-use commercial development given the moniker “Park 3” as part of the larger Port development project. The application states that Brotherson Road is “an underutilized dead-end road that precludes orderly commercial development of a portion of Park 3.”

Seven parcels of land, six of which are owned by the Port of Centralia, have frontage on Brotherson Road. The seventh is owned by Geraldine and Billydon Church and will be granted an easement to maintain its road access on W.H. Long Road.

Members of the public can testify at the hearing in person or submit comments in writing to city planner Hillary Hoke at 118 W. Maple St. in Centralia or via email at hhoke@cityofcentralia.com. Those with disabilities that require special accommodation should call 360-330-7662.

The Planning Commission will make a recommendation on the petition within 10 days of the hearing. An appeal of that decision may be filed with Lewis County Superior Court within the following 21 days.
