The Centralia Police Department has created a campaign to gather basic hygiene items for U.S. troops stationed in Iraq.

“We learned that a unit of approximately … (90) soldiers currently deployed at an outpost inside Iraq are having difficulties obtaining some of the most basic hygiene items,” reads a post on the department’s Facebook page.

Police are asking for the public’s help in obtaining new, unopened hygiene items including deodorant, body soaps, shaving essentials, toiletry items, toothpaste, toothbrushes and other similar items. Cash or checks are also being accepted.

The items can be taken to the main window at the Centralia Police Department in downtown Centralia.

Items are being accepted through 5 p.m. March 22.
