Poets, Colonels and WWI History Coming to Libraries in April

Multiple free events are happening at the Centralia and Chehalis Timberland Libraries in April.

On April 1 from 2 to 3 p.m., historian Lorraine McConaghy will be presenting a program on World War I entitled ‘Washington at War: The Evergreen State in World War I.’

She will being with an illustrated introduction to the war and will follow up with a Readers’ Theater script to be read aloud by willing participants. The script covers the period between 1914 and 1919.

On April 8 from 2 to 3 p.m., Lt. Col. Larry B. Mason, Ret. of the Air Force, will share his experience in Vietnam and the events that led him to being awarded the Air Force Cross.



In Chehalis on April 1 from 2 to 3 p.m., poet and performer Judith Adams will make a presentation on how poetry can enhance and change lives. She will explore the recitation of poetry and encourage guests to talk about their experiences with poetry.

She will also guide exercises designed to ignite the imagination, a press release from the library said.

Adams is an English-born poet who has lived in the U.S. since the 1970s and who has published four books of poetry and recorded several albums of her work.
