Lewis County Residents ‘Make it With Wool’

Lauren Moeckel, 14, from Chehalis, left, was named Alternate Junior Winner at the State Make It With Wool competition held November 9 in Vancouver. Elizabeth Paul, Centralia, right, also competed in the contest, in the adult division. The competition was held in conjunction with the annual convention of the Washington State Sheep Producers Association. Moeckel modelled a cream and lavender Pendleton wool plaid dress. She received a Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine as her prize.  

Paul modeled a fuchsia wool sleeveless A-line dress. She received fourth runner-up honors. Junior winner was Marissa McBride, Walla Walla. Senior winner was Carmen Barkley, Lacey. Adult winner was Dorothy Fish, Federal Way.   The Washington Make It With Wool Contest is sponsored by the Washington Wool Growers Auxiliary and the Washington State Sheep Producers. The national contest is sponsored by the American Sheep Industry and the American Sheep Industry Women. The Make It With Wool Contest is open to sewers of all ages. These fashionable wool garments can be sewn, knitted, crocheted, or felted. Compete at district, state and national levels.
