Clark County Commissioners voted Tuesday to put a measure on the November ballot that would gauge voter support for a new Columbia River bridge.
Commissioners heard from residents living on both sides of the Columbia, about the proposed span that would run east of the Interstate 205 bridge.
Most who testified raised concerns.
Kelly Love, CEO and President of the Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, says the group has a series of questions, including how the $860 million proposed bridge would be financed.
"Is Oregon supportive? So far the project calls for the bridge to dead end at Airport Way, one of the most congested arterials in Northeast Portland already," Love said.
Vancouver resident Craig Dewey says the east county bridge proposal doesn't solve the problem.
"Give us a bridge plan that solves the I-5 congestion and facilitates the economic movement of freight in and out of our ports," Dewey told the commissioners
During a low turnout election last November, 57 percent of Clark County voters were in favor of a bridge in a similar location.
