Peter W. Noll, the 33-year-old son of Harold and Alicia Noll, Centralia, was advanced to the rank of chief petty officer and rate of chief master-at-arms in the United States Navy during a pinning ceremony on Sept. 14 at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, Maryland.

Noll’s father, a retired Navy master chief petty officer, and his uncle, Gene Anderson, a retired Army master sergeant, were present to pin on “the golden anchors,” which signify the CPO rank.

After graduating high school in 2003, Noll enlisted into the Marine Corps, serving four years as a logistics specialist, and is an Iraq War veteran.

After leaving the Marines in 2007, Noll trained for and was accepted as an officer in the Morehead City, North Carolina, Police Department. In 2010, he made the decision to make the military a career and enlisted in the Navy as a security specialist, traditionally known within the Navy as master-at-arms.

His eight years of naval service include three years of shore duty at Pax River Base Security, one year overseas duty at Naval Security Detachment Souda Bay Crete in Greece, three years sea duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76, homeported in Japan, and is currently attached to Aircraft Squadron Detachment VQ-4, serving within the squadron’s security detachment.

Noll has received many awards and citations for outstanding achievement, including both the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and Navy Achievement Medal, as well as numerous letters of appreciation and commendations for outstanding performance and devotion to duty.
