Stockmens Coalition to Hold Special Meeting on Equine Herpes Virus

By The Chronicle

State Veterinarian Leonard Eldridge will address a special public meeting of the nonprofit Stockmens Coalition Wednesday evening in Oakville, giving information about a highly contagious horse disease.

Eldridge will provide first-hand knowledge and guidance to help owners manage and gain information on how to combat Equine Herpes Virus 1, otherwise known as EHV-1.

Recent outbreaks have caused concern for horse owners and the horse industry about the immediate impact of the virus, according to the Stockmens Coalition.

The meeting is free to the public, and will take place at 6 p.m. at the Oakville Rodeo Grounds just west of Oakville, along U.S. Highway 12.

Members of the Stockmens Coalition are asked to bring canned food to support their food drive for local food banks.

For more information, contact Nick Cockrell at (360) 470-8999 or nick.cockrell@stockmens-coalition.org.
