Nelson Ranch Outside Tenino to Hold Open House Saturday

Posted

The Nelson Ranch, which has been owned by the same family for 156 years, will host its annual open house event on Saturday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The event will include tours, horse-drawn hay rides and a herding dog display, among other offerings.

Then, from 5 to 7 p.m., a farm to table dinner will be offered featuring Calliope Farms produce and wines from Stottle Winery. The dinner includes a four-course meal with wine pairings. Tickets to the dinner cost $75.

In addition to the horse-drawn hay rides, there will be a blacksmith on hand to demonstrate old time metalworking skills as well as old time logging and milling demonstrations paired up with their modern day counterparts. Attendees will also have the opportunity to make apple cider with the use of a manual apple press, and discussions will be held regarding the numerous conservation projects underway on the ranch.

Fresh beef from Nelson Ranch will also be available for purchase.
