A Morton man charged in September with abusing kittens as part of a pattern of harassment against a woman entered guilty pleas earlier this month in Lewis County Superior Court.

Brandon M. McIntyre, 20, pleaded guilty Oct. 4 to second-degree animal cruelty and cyberstalking.

He was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 334 suspended for 24 months if he maintains law abiding behavior.

His remaining jail sentence was 60 days with credit for 33 already served.

McIntyre was originally charged Sept. 5 with one count each of first-degree animal cruelty and cyberstalking after he was accused of leaving kittens for dead in a sealed box and using that action to harass a woman.

According to court documents, the Morton Police Department began an investigation on July 27 regarding those incidents occurring between June 23 and June 24 in Morton.

Two juvenile suspects led police to McIntyre, saying he taped the kittens in a box and left it at the victim’s home before he and at least one of the juveniles sent a series of messages to the woman via social media telling her “she has a present waiting,” according to court documents, referring to the box containing the kittens, which they told her were dead.

McIntyre also allegedly threatened in messages to put a “hit out” on the victim.

The woman returned home and found the kittens alive but “dehydrated, sick and hungry,” according to court documents.
