Dillan Davis, of Randle, died Tuesday in a workplace accident at the Hampton Lumber Mill in Morton. He was 20 years old.

Davis was discovered fatally injured on a conveyor, according to Hector Castro, a spokesperson for the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. Castro said no other details are available, but there is an investigation under way.

Davis was born in Centralia and lived in Randle. After graduating from White Pass High School in 2010, he began working at the Hampton Lumber Mill in Randle. He transferred to the Morton mill this past October. The mill is closed until further notice.

“No words can express our sorrow to the family of Dillan and his friends throughout the Cowlitz Vallet, said Steve Zika, CEO of Hampton Affiliates.

The Davis family suffered a loss three years ago when their daughter, Darcie, died in a crash on U.S. Highway 12 a week after graduating from White Pass High School. She was 18.

A memorial will be held for Dillan Davis on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. at White Pass High School.

The Darcie and Dillan Davis Memorial Fund, a memorial fund providing scholarships, has been established. Contact Key Bank for more information.

Both the Randle and Morton mills are owned by Hampton Affiliates, a Portland-based company that owns eight sawmills in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
