McMorris Rodgers an Honorary Chairwoman for Trump 2020

U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers will serve as a state honorary co-chairwoman for President Donald Trump’s re-election bid, the campaign announced recently.

McMorris Rodgers, the state’s most senior Republican in Congress, will share the honorary role with seatmate Rep. Dan Newhouse, from Central Washington’s 4th District.

The state campaign will also have a regional political director in its effort to “advance the agenda of President Trump and Republicans up and down the ballot,” its national headquarters said in a news release.

During the early months of the 2016 campaign, McMorris Rodgers expressed some reservations about Trump and said she wasn’t enthusiastic about voting for him in the state primary because she was just getting to know him.

Later that year, she endorsed him as someone who could bring needed change, although she criticized him when the Access Hollywood tape surfaced with his comments seeming to endorse sexual assault.
