Port of Centralia Approves O’Keefe Development’s Detailed Grocery Distribution Center Site Plan

The Port of Centralia commissioners approved the Port Determination of Master Plan Compliance for O’Keefe Distribution Center on Wednesday afternoon — a detailed site plan for O’Keefe Development’s $100 million grocery distribution center project.

“I toured the site today,” said Port of Centralia CEO Kyle Heaton. “All the employee parking is paved. They are probably about 20 percent through the truck port and asphalt they are paving Sunday and Monday of this week. … If everything keeps going well, they should start tilting walls somewhere in the first or second week of November.”

This 1.3 million square foot grocery distribution center is expected to bring 350 jobs to the area. While the tenant is set to be in the center and operating by July 1, 2019, O’Keefe Development has yet to release the tenant’s name. Heaton said the contractors are currently working their way through the site work.

“They are fairly well along in that,” Heaton said. “I think it’s a very complex project because of the nature of what they are building and having two general contractors on site at the same time — building on the same project and not getting in each other’s way or slowing each other down. … I was very impressed with how far they have gotten so far. They are on track with where they should be time wise.”
