Local Teachers Can Request Funding From Inspirus Credit Union

Teachers across Washington state are able to ask for money for school supplies and classroom resources through a program funded by Inspirus Credit Union.

Utilizing the nonprofit DonorsChoose.org, the credit union is providing the opportunity for teachers to apply to the online crowdfunding site to receive funds to pay for learning materials.

“Every Friday for the duration of the year, one teacher in Washington will get their project request fully-funded by Inspirus Credit Union,” according to a press release.

The announcement will be made on the credit union’s Facebook page.

“It’s our mission to give back to education, and this is one way we give back,” Sherry Lotze, vice president of marketing, said. “We want to support those who teach the leaders of tomorrow, and we hope they will benefit greatly from this.”

The credit union has committed $100,000 for the effort.

Most projects on DonorsChoose.org range from $300 to over $2,000, with the average cost per project at $700. Inspirus has already funded its first project at Madrona Elementary School in SeaTac.
