The race for District 3 commissioner of the Lewis County Public Utilities District is no longer contested, after former county commissioner Lee Grose withdrew on Monday.
Grose would have faced Tim Cournyer, of Mossyrock.
He decided not to run after Cournyer filed on Friday.
“I didn’t think we needed a two-man race,” Grose, a Packwood resident, said.
Cournyer is now unopposed for the nonpartisan office with a six-year term.
The PUD board of commissioners is responsible for setting utility policy and overseeing the work of the general manager.
