Lewis County Lifts Burn Ban

A burn ban that has been in place since June 17 for the unincorporated areas of Lewis County will end at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

That change was agreed upon by the Board of Lewis County Commissioners and the Lewis County fire marshal and announced Tuesday evening via press release.

The release noted that current weather conditions have significantly reduced dangers associated with outdoor burning.

Outdoor burns still require a permit application online or through local fire departments. The release noted that, “Lewis County Fire Marshal works closely with local fire districts and local fire departments and strongly urges all county residents and property owners to be

attentive to the condition of their properties through proactive fire prevention

measures, such as the presence of fire-extinguishing equipment and attendance to

supervise the fire until the fire has been extinguished.”

Outdoor burning is limited to natural vegetation generated from the same property as the burn site. The burning of garbage, paper and other refuse materials is prohibited at all times. Debris burning is also prohibited within city limits and urban growth areas.

Burn permits can be obtained online at https://burnpermit.lewiscountywa.gov/ or at the Lewis County fire marshal’s office.
