The Lewis County Board of Commissioners recognized 911 dispatch staff Monday by declaring April 9 through 15 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

“As a team, we pull together and make things happen,” said Dave Anderson, Lewis County 911 Communications manager.

The 911 Communications Center handles about 160,000 phone calls annually, he said at Monday’s commission meeting.

The communications center is currently training four new recruits.

“We have a very strong group of recruits,” Anderson said.

Anderson also briefly spoke about the recent installation of new equipment at the center.

“A lot of hard work has been put into this,” he said. “Our future looks bright.”

The Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution supporting the declaration, which states that dispatchers are “radio lifelines” for emergency personnel.
