Lewis County Approves Franchise Renewal for Centralia Utilities

Posted

After a public hearing resulted in no testimony from the community, the Board of Lewis County Commissioners authorized a franchise renewal on Monday for Centralia so the city can operate and maintain utilities located in the county’s rights of way.

The franchise, according to Larry Unzelman, real estate services manager with the public works department, is for water, sewer, electrical and stormwater facilities managed by Centralia largely outside of its city limits. The franchise extends to Cooks Hill Road in the west, the Little Hanaford area in the east, south to the Chehalis city limits and north to the Lewis and Thurston county line.

The franchise was set to expire this year.
