Bonnie Canaday is trailing Julie Shaffley in the Port of Centralia race after the first votes were counted Tuesday.

 The preliminary election results, released Tuesday night, for the Port of Centralia Commissioner District 2, showed that incumbent Shaffley, with 2,251 votes (61.76 percent), was leading the race ahead of Bonnie Canaday with 1,357 votes (37.23  percent). 

A write-in candidate received 37 votes (1.02 percent). The voter turnout was 32.63 percent out of 13064 registered voters. Neither candidate could be reached for comment.

Updated vote tallies will be released Wednesday.
