Initial Results Show Brian Blake Leading Political Newcomer Joel McEntire in 19th Legislative District

Initial election results indicate Brian Blake, D-Longview is set to serve as a state representative for his 17th legislative session.

Joel McEntire, R-Cathlamet challenged Blake, the incumbent for the 19th legislative district, state representative position 2. According to the Lewis County Auditor’s Office, however, Blake is leading the primary with 54.39 percent of the vote district-wide.

These results are as of 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Results showed McEntire had 45.61 percent of the vote in the state. In Lewis County, however, McEntire is leading with 66.35 percent of the vote. Blake currently has 33.65 in Lewis County.



Blake is the chair of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. He also serves on the Commerce and Gaming Committee and the Business and Financial Services Committee. He has served as a state representative for 16 legislative sessions.

McEntire is a political newcomer. He is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Sergeant and middle school teacher. During the Aug. 7 primary, McEntire beat out Blake in Lewis County. In the state, however, — which are the votes that dictate who is elected to office — McEntire only received 21.79 percent of the vote, while Blake received 58.31 percent of the vote.
