A Goldendale woman injured while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail near Packwood was rescued Tuesday by search and rescue crews from the King County and Lewis County sheriff’s offices.
Search and rescue crews responded after receiving a signal from an emergency beacon at a location on the Pacific Crest Trail near the Walupt Lake Campground in Packwood, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
Search and rescue crews responded, along with the King County Sheriff’s Office’s helicopter, Guardian One.
First-arriving deputies met with a 29-year-old Klickitat man who reported his hiking companion, a 27-year-old woman from Goldendale, injured her leg and was not able to move on her own.
After she was injured, the pair met up with another group of hikers who let them use their emergency beacon.
Lewis County crews helped guide the helicopter to the woman’s location. She was then taken to Morton General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
