Hearing Scheduled for Thurston County Transportation Plan

Posted

Thurston County residents will have the opportunity to comment on proposed revisions to the county’s six-year Transportation Improvement Plan on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

The plan spans the years 2016 through 2021.

As required by state law, the county must adopt a revised six-year transportation improvement program each year and the county engineer must then submit the revised plan each year to the commissioners for review and approval.

The plan covers various proposed projects that will later be prioritized according to need, timeliness, funding availability and other factors. The projects can include construction of major or minor new roads, bridges, safety projects or other transportation improvements.

Roger Giebelhaus, of Thurston County Public Works, said in a press release the plan helps ensure proper coordination and sequencing of projects and resources.
