The general manager of Twin Transit has announced he will be resigning from his position effective Aug. 31 after accepting a position at Intercity Transit in Olympia.

Rob LaFontaine has been the general manager for the area’s public transportation agency since October 2011.

“It is with genuine mixed emotions that I announce I will be resigning my employment from Twin Transit,” LaFontaine said in an email.

He will start in his new role on Sept. 5 as the grant program administrator.

“I am proud of the progress made at Twin Transit in recent years and look forward to handing it off to the next general manager to keep the momentum going in a positive direction,” LaFontaine said. “The Prothman Co. has been retained by Twin Transit to administer the recruitment and selection process over the coming weeks.”

LaFontaine thanked those who have been a resource for him during his time at Twin Transit.

Twin Transit has been working on creating a new transit hub in Centralia and on a possible boundary expansion that would provide services to other areas in the county.
