Fundraiser Planned for Toledo Girls Who Recently Had Brain Surgery

Posted

Toledo is continuing to rally behind two teenage girls and their families undergoing treatment for serious medical issues.

Rylee Birdwell and Jessica Hull are both Toledo cheerleaders and now also share their experiences with brain surgery. Birdwell underwent surgery for a brain tumor late last month and Hull suffered a brain aneurism in May.

On Sunday, Lewis County residents will have the opportunity to support the girls and their families through a “Music in the Park” event scheduled for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  at 611 Cedar St. in Toledo.

“It’s a small town so it’s one of those things where you feel like you know everybody,” said Angela Schaplow, one of the people organizing the event. “They would do that for my kids. Our community would do it for anyone else’s children.”

Performers will include Kaitee Carney, Mason Gaul and Tyler Crawford, all graduates of Toledo High School. There is no cost to attend the event, but all donations collected will be given to the girls’ families.
