The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce and local businesses will provide $11,000 in scholarship money to graduating seniors next week at its annual Rob Fuller Scholarship Luncheon.

Each year, the lunch celebrates the top 50 students from Centralia High School and W.F. West 2018 graduating classes on Monday, May 14. Each high school will send 25 students to the luncheon.

“These are tomorrow’s leaders and we want our youth to understand they are being supported,” said Alicia Bull, executive director of the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce. “Sometimes we forget to acknowledge how hardworking our youth are.”

Bull said there are a total of 11 scholarships, each valued at $1,000. The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce will offer three Rob Fuller Scholarships.

The other scholarships are “The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce 2018 Olivia Mitchell Scholarship” from the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce; “The 2018 Title Guaranty Company of Lewis County Citizen Scholarship” from Title Guaranty Company of Lewis County; “The 2018 Boys and Girls Club of Chehalis Scholarship” from the Boys and Girls Club of Chehalis; “The 2018 Rainier Connect STEM Scholarship” from Rainier Connect; “The 2018 Visiting Nurses Foundation Scholarship” from The Visiting Nurses Foundation; “The 2018 Thorbecke’s Fitlife/Pacific Sports Spa Scholarship” from Thorbecke’s Fitlife; “The 2018 TwinStar Credit Union Business Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship” from TwinStar Credit Union; and “The 2018 Education Scholarship” from Centralia Community Foundation.

Bull said Lewis County Sheriff Robert R. Snaza will serve as the keynote speaker.

“He’s somebody in our community who we feel is a great example of leadership in our community,” Bull said. “He was really excited to speak, just to be able to have a chance to be able to address the youth in our local community.”

The Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce wants to make sure every student leaves with something to reward their achievements.

“We are asking and encourage our local business community to get involved in this fun event that celebrates the achievements and dedication of our youth by donating $25 gift cards to local businesses, perhaps your own, or making a monetary donation to go towards the procurement of gift cards,” the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce wrote in a press release. “Raffle prizes are another way for us to award these students, so please feel free to donate raffle items as well. Our goal is to award all 50 students attending this event with something special and we ask for your help to do so!”

To make a donation or to ask someone from the chamber to pick up the donation, contact the Chamber at 360-748-8885. People who wish to donate may also drop off their donation at the Chamber, located at 500 NW Chamber of Commerce Way in Chehalis.

“This is an opportunity for the business community to really show support for tomorrow’s leaders,” Bull said.

To attend the Rob Fuller Scholarship Luncheon, contact the Chamber to pre-register by Wednesday, May 9. The luncheon will take place on Monday, May 14th at Great Wolf Lodge from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. It costs $25 per person, which must be paid in advance.
