Evergreen Playhouse Performing ‘Disorder in the Court’ Tonight

The Evergreen Playhouse in Centralia is putting on a performance of “Disorder in the Court” on Saturday Nov. 16  at 7:30 p.m.

The play is a part of the series “One From the Shelf.” The director of the play, Dave Marsh, explained the series. “I began several years ago as a way to showcase shows that might not be quite right for the regular season---small cast size or material that might be a bit more controversial. I tend to find very funny, off-the-wall shows that let the kids really get silly on stage.” he explained. “I also try to do one show during the season that is more serious, with real life subjects like teen suicide.”

The Chronicle asked Marsh how he would explain the play. “‘Disorder in the Court’ by Brianna Dehn is a super fun over-the-top comedy about a young lady, Casey Licit, who finds herself on trial for 3 murders, just because she drives a similar vehicle to the murderer. There are all sorts of crazy, weird funny characters that come to the witness stand,” he said.

Marsh chooses plays like this one for the “One From the Shelf” series because they allow the actors to be creative and explore comedy. These shows fall between between regular season shows and are pay-what-you-can shows with a suggested donation of $5.

“It is an inexpensive, family-friendly, hilarious way to spend a Saturday evening,” said Marsh.

Concessions begin at 7 p.m. and the curtain time is 7:30 p.m. The play should run for about 40 minutes.
