DeBolt Selected for Leadership Role on House Environment and Energy Committee

State Rep. Richard DeBolt, R-Chehalis, was appointed as the ranking member of the House Environment and Energy Committee this week as the Legislature gets to work in Olympia.

Among other issues, the committee focuses on air quality, environmental policy and recycling.

It also works on bills related to energy standards, production and conservation.

“I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and working hard to find solutions to the environmental and energy challenges facing our state,” DeBolt said in a press release by House Republicans. “I believe that collaborative and positive regulation can pave the way for better environmental legislation. Opportunistic measures provide options for environmental protections that we all can benefit from. By incentivizing business owners to do the things that help keep our air, land and water unpolluted we encourage strong economic growth and a clean environment.”

The 60-day legislative session began Jan. 13 and is scheduled to end on March 12.
