Repaired: Phone Outage Affecting Lewis County Now Fixed

By The Chronicle

Damage to a major CenturyLink fiber optic line between Olympia and Centralia cut off phone service, affecting 911 calls for several hours Wednesday, according to the Lewis County 911 Communications Center.

The dispatch center first reported major landline phone outages that cut 911 service to the county at about 5 p.m.

Emergency texts and emails were sent to area residents, along with posts on the dispatch center’s Facebook page, advising residents to use cellphones to call 911 or the center’s non-emergency number.

By about 6:15 p.m., all Lewis County 911 calls were rerouted to Thurston County’s dispatch center.

At 10:05 p.m., 911 phone service was restored in Lewis County, according to the dispatch center.
