The Southwest Washington Rainy Daze Quilt Guild presents their biennial quilt show in October at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds. The show is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday Oct. 18 and Sat. Oct. 19 at the Community Events building at the fairgrounds at 2555 North National Avenue. The event includes demonstrations and make-and-take projects. Daily admission costs $6.

Ryderwood’s 15th annual Arts & Crafts Fair will be the weekend of October 18-19, 2019. Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Held in the two large room of the historic Community Hall, there will be vendors from all over the area offering a wide variety of hand-crafted products. The nearly world famous Grandma’s Kitchen bake sale will be held in the kitchen of that building while such (hot dogs, chili, baked potatoes) will be across the street at the Cafe. Note, Exit 59 is closed so follow detour signs at Exit 63 or use Westside Hwy. from the south.

Boo-coda Events

Bucoda Scary-Nights Haunted House: Oct.19, 25, 26, 30, 31 and Nov. 1, from 7 to 11p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, from 7 to 10 p.m. Halloween week. It will be located in the Bucoda Haunted Gym, 403 N. Nenant St., Bucoda. The cost is $12 for general admission and $20 for a VIP ticket.

Boo-coda Family Fun and Fright Day is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be kids and adult categories for pumpkin decorating and carving, a coloring contest and a resource fair with booths providing fun activities.

The Boo-coda Vendor Fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 and 26.

Boo-coda Monster Mash Dance: On Oct. 19, ages 1 to 12 will dance 6 to 7:30 p.m. and ages 13 to 17 will hit the floor from 7 to 9 p.m.. The dance is held in the Bucoda Community Center’s second-floor ballroom, which is located at 101B East Seventh St. in Bucoda.

The Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis will hold its annual Korean War Veterans and POW/MIA Remembrance day at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at the museum. The guest speaker will be author and film producer Sig Unander. Unander plans to give a presentation on Clair Phillips, a young woman from Oregon who served as a spy during World War II, assisting American prisoners of war in the Philippines. Veterans of the Korean War and prisoners of war will be recognized at the public event. The Salzer Creek Band will perform. For more information, contact the Veterans Memorial Museum at 360-740-8875

Centralia College Zombie 5K Fun Run. Registration starts at 9 a.m., the run at 10 a.m. at Borst Park Trails, 2030 Borst Ave., Centralia, hosted by Centralia College. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers. Pre-registration by Oct. 14. Tickets: www.raceentry.com.

Ghost Tours at the Haunted Historical Museum. Take a tour of the Lewis County Historical Museum, as the South Sound Paranormal Research team takes you through the museum after dark. Tour the museum’s attic, and main halls with detection equipment and flashlights in hand. 5th Annual Oktoberfest at Jeremy’s Farm to Table, located at 576 W Main St., Chehalis, from 6-10 p.m. Authentic German buffet including schnitzel, spaetzle, rouladen, bratwurst, bockwurst, knackwurst, pretzel rolls, sauerkraut, sauerbraten, strudel, and more, with live music from The Blaser Brothers.
