Swede Day Coming to Rochester
The Scandinavian festival known as Swede Day comes to Rochester Saturday.
Like many of the festivals, a highlight is the parade. This one runs down U.S. Highway 12 from Paulson Street to Albany Street, and then proceeds south to Swede Hall.
Parade grand marshal this year is Bill Liddle.
The Rochester American Legion Post 49 will be serving a pancake breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children and $25 for a family of five or less.
From noon until 3 p.m., the Rochester Citizens Group will be offering a Swedish meatball lunch. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children age 6-8 and free for children under 6. Hot dogs and hamburgers will also be available for $5.
Entertainment will include a Scandinavian dance with Nordic Exposure, Kevin Mills and a taekwondo demonstration from Kim’s Tae Kwon Do.
