There will be a parade, artists, craftspeople, food booths and live entertainment.
Other events will include the Hoop it Up 3 on 3 Tournament, Classic Car Show and Motorcycle Display, Oakville Junior Rodeo, Kids Zone featuring bouncy houses, kids’ art activity tables, a movie in the park (at dusk) and much more.
In addition, there will be a beer garden.

Enjoy ‘Art on the Hill’
at Seminary Hill Natural Area
Bring out the kids for a free art event 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the Seminary Hill Natural Area in Centralia.
This event is open to all ages. It will include a walk in the natural area’s century-old forest and activities creating art projects using some of the materials discovered in the woods.
Wanda Barlow, Megan Berry and Sue Beck will lead this event.
As with all events sponsored by the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area, free cookies and coffee will be available.
Meet at the Barner Drive entrance to the natural area at the eastern end of Locust Street. Because recent events have been popular and highly attended, it is suggested that attendees arrive several minutes early, and consider parking on Locust Street above or below the entrance to the Natural Area.
Also mark you calendar for the last of the year’s sponsored activities on the hill:
• Geology Walk — 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, with Jim and Patty Ward (note: this event will be held at the upper entrance to the natural area, off Seminary Hill Road).
Follow all the activities at the Seminary Hill Natural Area at facebook.com/SeminaryHill, twitter.com/GoSeminaryHill or instagram.com/GoSeminaryHill.
Schwingfest Continues in Frances
The annual Swiss celebration called Schwingfest will continue this weekend at Swiss Park in Frances. The town is located west of Pe Ell on state Highway 6 in Pacific County.
Perhaps the biggest attraction is the schwingen wrestling tournament. This year, the entire tournament will be held today rather than on both weekend days.
Following the schwingen, there will be a stone throwing contest.
Joining Schwingfest this year is Pacific Coast Musikfest, a celebration of Swiss music that is held periodically in West Coast cities.
After the annual Catholic Mass on Sunday morning, a variety of Swiss performers will rotate onto a concert stage throughout the afternoon. Musikfest will conclude around 5 p.m. with a dinner and dance to follow.
Schwingfest is sponsored by the Lewis-Pacific Swiss Society. For more information, visit www.lpss.info/schwingfest.
