Human Trafficking Prevention Official to Speak to AAUW

Kerri Pedrick, the executive director of Washington Trafficking Prevention, an organization empowering youth and communities to end human trafficking in Washington state, will be speaking a meeting of the Lewis County chapter of the American Association of University Women Thursday.

Her passion and experience is in empowering and directly supporting young people, refugees and those who serve them.

Pedrick’s education is in community-based social work with a master’s degree in social enterprise administration from Columbia University School of Social Work in New York, New York, and her bachelor’s degree in social work from Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma.

Pedrick will present an overview of the dynamics of human trafficking that is happening in our own backyards. Participants will learn how to become an ally in the fight against human trafficking through knowledge and seven active ways people can make a difference.

The talk will begin at 6:45 p.m. at The Gathering Place, Stillwaters Estates, Centralia.

To get to the site, turn left off of Cooks Hill Road onto Scammon Creek Road. Go down Scammon for about a quarter mile and turn right on Colonial Drive. Drive through the gate and past the cattails and turn right on Stillwaters Avenue.

The Gathering Place is a large building on the left with a flag out in front. You will also see the closed front gates ahead of you. Park in front or on either side of the building.

For more information, call 360-520-0148.
