Gig Harbor Author to Speak at Tenino Library

Award-winning author DL Fowler, Gig Harbor, will be giving a talk noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tenino Timberland Library.

Fowler wrote “Ripples” and “Lincoln’s Diary,” both suspense novels, and “Lincoln Raw,” a biographical novel.

Fowler will be reading from “Lincoln Raw,” and then will lead a workshop for aspiring writers.

The Tenino Timberland Library is located at 172 Central Ave. West.

 

Work Party at Seminary Hill Natural Area Planned

The Friends of Seminary Hill will be holding an Earth Day Work Party 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at the natural area in Centralia.

There will be a variety of projects available, from ivy removal to trail upkeep.

Quiznos is supplying sandwiches, cookies will be available and coffee is being provided by  Santa Lucia Coffee.

The workers will meet in the main parking lot at the corner of Barner Drive and Locust Street at 9 a.m.

Bring work gloves if you have them and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Tools will be available, but you may bring your own.

 

Fundraiser to Honor Ben Eastman

A fundraiser to honor Ben Eastman will be held Saturday at the Brown Shack Tavern, 155 Salkum Road, Salkum.

Eastman, a resident of Randle, died earlier this summer.

A barbecue featuring chicken skewers, brats and potato salad will start at 6 p.m. Dakota Robbins will be on stage in the beer garden at 6 p.m., followed by the Brothers Rowe at 8 p.m.

Cost of a wrist band for food and music will be $20.

All proceeds, including a Coors Light tap, will go to Lewis County sports.
