Ceremony Marks Completion of Chamber Way Bridge Construction

Beginning this week, The Chronicle started shifting delivery services from drivers to the U.S. Postal Service in some areas.

The change is only in effect for subscribers outside of the Twin Cities and Napavine. Readers in Centralia and Chehalis will continue to get their newspapers from The Chronicle’s team of drivers and youth route-holders.

Lafromboise Communications President and Publisher Michael Wagar said the change is aimed at providing more reliable delivery services to readers outside of the Twin Cities.

“We have had difficulties to say the least in our carrier force for the past year,” he said. “In essence, we could not guarantee consistent delivery. We will start with postal delivery for problem routes in our outlying areas. For now, that might mean the papers come a day late, and for that, I apologize.”

As part of the effort to give better service, The Chronicle has had a complete change in circulation management, moving efforts to the Print Division at the Port of Centralia and hiring a new staff, Wagar said.

“This is difficult work, but we are committed to making this company as strong as possible,” Wagar said. “We are looking to switching our newsroom deadlines in the near future to get the papers to the Post Office in time for same-day delivery. I do thank you for your patience as we iron out the wrinkles. For now, those who need their news immediately, go to www.chronline.com. We are also increasing the number of copies we put into area stores and paper racks.”

In the early stages of the change, some subscribers will receive their newspapers a day later than usual. That’s expected to shift to same-day delivery in the near-future as The Chronicle adjusts its deadlines.
