Centralia Woman, 18, Second Suspect to Be Charged in Alleged Attack, Robbery at Hotel

Two of five suspects have now been charged with robbery after a man was reportedly beaten and robbed with firearm-wielding men at a Centralia hotel.

Claire J. Carsoner-Garcia, 18, of Centralia, was charged Friday in Lewis County Superior Court with first-degree robbery and theft of a motor vehicle two days after Maria I. Sevilla-Martinez, 17, was charged as an adult with the same crimes.

Sevilla-Martinez was arrested at her home on Tuesday after a man identified as her ex-boyfriend reported Dec. 6 that she lured him to a hotel room where two armed men attacked him, stole his wallet and took his car.

The victim told police three women, including Sevilla-Martinez, were also in the hotel room at the time.

In a probable cause report filed in Carsoner-Garcia’s case, investigators reported the victim was in the hotel room earlier that day but left after an “incident” between him and Sevilla-Martinez.

Sevilla-Martinez told detectives she called her friend Carsoner-Garcia and told her what happened.

“She stated Claire immediately called her ‘homeys’ and told them what happened,” according to court documents.

The two men showed up a few minutes later and Carsoner-Garcia told Sevilla-Martinez to call the victim and tell him to come back.

“Claire kept telling her they will take care of it,” according to court documents.

The report also reveals that Carsoner-Garcia was the person listed as renting the room. Security footage showed her and Sevilla-Martinez at the hotel’s front counter and a total of three women and two men entering and leaving the room.

Sevilla-Martinez is being held in the Lewis County Jail on $150,000 bail pending her next hearing. On Friday, Deputy Prosecutor Joel DeFazio asked Superior Court Judge Joely O’Rourke to hold Carsoner-Garcia on the same bail amount.

Defense attorney Rachael Tiller, representing Carsoner-Garcia for the day, asked for $10,000 bail, citing the suspect’s lack of felony criminal history.

O’Rourke followed the prosecutor’s recommendation.

“My concern is absolutely no different to … the other matter,” she said.

O’Rourke noted first-degree robbery is a Class A felony and a strike offense.

“It warrants a high bail,” she said.

Both suspects are scheduled to make their next court appearances Thursday.
