Centralia Set to Begin Phased Sewer Project

Posted

The other boys of summer — construction crews — will be arriving soon when the city of Centralia begins a two year, two-phase sewer mainline replacement project in Centralia.

Phase 1 is scheduled to begin June 20 in the area north of West First Street and south of West Sixth Street, and east of M Street and west of G Street. Phase 1 should be finished by Oct. 15, according to a city press release.

Phase 2 will begin May 1 of next year and should be completed by Oct. 15, 2012. This work will be in the area east of Washington Avenue and west of Rose Street, and north of West Fifth Street and south of the Skookumchuck River.

The project will also include replacement of sewer laterals to homes.

Street closures and detours will impact traffic between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays. The intent is to keep streets open during non-working hours. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during construction.
