Centralia Police Department Collecting Blankets Through Winter

The Centralia Police Department is collecting clean new or gently used blankets and sleeping bags through the winter at its office at 118 West Maple Street.

This is the program’s third year, and so far it has been successful, said Community Service Officer Jennifer Krueger.

“We have quite a stack going,” she said.

Donations are accepted during business hours on weekdays.

In addition to collecting blankets at the police department’s lobby, people in need are welcome to come by and pick up a blanket or two.

“We just leave them out there so people can take one,” Krueger said.

The program will likely extend through February, depending on this winter’s weather.

“Anything that’s left at the end we bring over to the Salvation Army,” she said.
