The Centralia Timberland Library will host an hourlong workshop entitled Emergency Prep: Introduction to Ham Radios beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 20.
Dick Morrison of the Lewis County Amateur Radio Emergency Service will discuss different uses for ham radios and how to get an amateur radio license needed to operate a ham radio.
Communities throughout the Pacific Northwest, particularly rural ones, often rely on ham radios to communicate in the aftermath of a natural disaster such as an earthquake or flood.
The event is free to attend, as are all Timberland Library programs. For more information, visit trl.org or call 360-736-0183.
